Dad,
Thank you for showing me how a man should treat me. When I was little I didn’t really pay attention to all that you did. You were away at times for long periods working, and I know that you did that to provide for us. You stepped in whenever you needed to—even if that meant having to buy girly things sometimes. You joked, but you didn’t really mind at all.
You came to so many sporting events over the years, even the sports you didn’t care for. Even when I was injured and not playing, you were always there to support me. You went on college tours with me, even though you didn’t want to because you knew it was important to me that you were there. You let us paint your toenails crazy colors when we were bored, and then told us not to tell anyone (sorry about that).
You ate some outrageous meals just because we had made them special for you. You always joke with me because you know how to get under my skin. You understand my sarcasm better than anyone.
Whenever I get upset or hurt, you always know what to say to make me laugh and forget what was wrong in the first place. If mom ever had to be gone in the mornings, you always tried your best to help with hair—it wasn’t always great, but you did try.
You supported my crazy ideas of running a lemonade stand, making jewelry for people (you even wore some of it), my wanting to be a masseuse—you really didn’t mind that one—and so many other things throughout the years.
Thank you for making me laugh so hard I cried. Thank you for letting me watch the last scene of my favorite show 20 times in a row because I wanted to. Thank you for letting me drive around in my first car to say goodbye before you sold it. Thank you for going to school plays, field trips, camps, and so many other things.
Thank you for helping me become the person that I am today, and for always pushing me to be my best. Most importantly, that you for teaching me to never settle.
Thank you for everything that you have done for me dad, I appreciate it all.
Love Always,
Your Little Girl
